Urbanites’ mental health undermined by air pollution

Summary
Using nationwide Chinese search data, this study finds that air pollution causally worsens mental health and that longer exposure strengthens the effect. Impacts vary across demographic groups and are smaller in cities with stronger economic, health, green-space, and sports resources.
